Bahrain Telecommunications Company acquires majority share in Dhiraagu

Bahrain Telecomunications Company (Batelco) has acquired the majority share of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun Public Limited (Dhiraagu), the largest telecommunications service provider in the Maldives, Dhiraagu announced Wednesday (April 3).

Previously, Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), a British multinational telecommunications company, was the majority shareholder of Dhiraagu. Batelco purchased a majority of assets in Monaco & Islands Business Unit from CWC, resulting in its owning 52 percent of Dhiraagu shares.

Dhiraagu’s board of directors was altered following the purchase. The company’s leadership now includes Ibrahim Athif Shakoor as Chairperson and Government Director, and Ismail Waheed as CEO and Managing Director.

  1. The English relinquishes its last assistance in Maldives. Along comes the bearded lazy Camels.

Customer services has different ratings. Compare Jeddah Airport to London Heathrow. Now we will see first hand, how arabs treat Dogs.

  3. @Kuribee Visit Batelco's webpage and read it. It is in English, but since you are not Indian, I am sure you know how to read it. Batelco aka Camel to you, purchased operations of certain countries only from C&W. In fact, C&W was the one which helped establish Batelco in 1981. BTW nearly all Batelco technical, financia and PR guys are whites, Chinese and Indians. LOL

You commend the Japanese for their excellent work ethics. Hard working, highest standards, etc. Germans too.

On the other hand, Arabs : the most self pompous, arrogant, Lazy (capital L), group of Neanderthals in the world. Yes, they treat all other races contemptuously. They treat Indians, srilankans, by extension maldivians as well, like stray dogs. Anyone who has EVER had interaction with the Camel in-breds would know of this.

Bahrain, has got foreigners working for their telco. All of Arabian world has got 99.99% work force from outside. Why? Because they all are .....

Face the facts man. Don't be an ostrich.
