Police charge two men for homosexuality on Fokaidhoo

Police have sent the names of two Maldivian men charged for homosexuality to the Prosecutor General’s office for prosecution in the Criminal Court.

Police identified the two men from Fokaidhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, aged 19 and 44 years-old.

Police arrested the pair on May 24, 2013 while they were allegedly performing homosexual acts in the kitchen of a hotel on Fokaidhoo island.

  1. Shariah mandates they be stoned to death.

But, the child molesting judiciary has eyes for under–age girls only.

I would not be surprised if the judiciary found a neighbourhood girl at fault here; maybe even claim that her refusal to serve these men led to them to homosexuality. Keep it up judges!

  2. Yes, keep arresting them. And punish them to the fullest - not just a lashing and a jailterm. Sodomy is punishable with 19-39 lashes and 1-3 years in prison under Dhivehistani Shariah. It will also be punishable under Common Law with an additional jailterm under the new Sexual Offences Act submitted by Kutti Nasheed to the Majlis.

What's funny is none of them carry the real Islamic penalty. Death either by stoning, drowning, pushing from a height, crushed under a wall, hanging or beheading. I suggest the dramatic crushing under a wall - it's supposed to mimic the rain of brimstone that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Ah, even imagining it gives me the chills. That'll teach these peasants to have an unhappy married life and reproduce and die after living an empty lie of a life. LOL.

Meanwhile sodomite and sapphic tourists come to these high end resorts and defile the pure Dhivehistani soil with their filthy acts. Not to mention the elite and the mullahs who use island peasants for their pleasure and cast them off when bored. They're above these rules which are meant only for the peasants.

  3. @Andrew Andreas:

Sharia does not prescribe as you suggest. Indeed, there are very progressive readings on this subject. See for example, Scott Sirajul Haqque, as below.

Double punishments.

  5. Perhaps the homosexuals and their families should vote on the punishment for Maldives for harming homosexuals. There are 2 billion+ homosexuals and their families. Maldives has a mere 300,000 people. Bigger groups get to vote on the human rights of smaller groups according to the Maldives government right? How about Maldives stops criminalizing homosexuals and forcing religion onto other people? That way respect for human rights can go both directions and Maldives' citizens can all live in peace and freedom.
