Villa International High School threatens disciplinary action against student

Villa International High School – owned by business tycoon and leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim – has threatened disciplinary action against a student who spoke at the ongoing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protest.

According to Haveeru, the high school has decided to take action against Mikael Ahmed Naseem, a grade 12 student and school captain, for speaking at a rally organised by a political party.

Mikael had strongly criticised MP Gasim and claimed that students of Villa International High School were “against the coup.”

A school official told Haveeru that a committee would decide the form of disciplinary action, explaining that participation in partisan political activities were forbidden to students under general regulations for school children.

  1. The school should dismiss the student. He has bitten the hand which feeds him. Just expell him and then he would know what future lies infront of him. Bloody ungrateful twat.

  7. I am not surprised regarding disciplinary action from a third dada (Gasim). His philanthropic service to the public had been based on the theory of ' you owe him ' and you have to look upon him as the big dada. Even it is a must that those who work for him must have the same political views. Other wise you cannot remain in his resorts. He would even expect the tourists who visit there to support his political agenda and no Raaje TV in Villa resorts.

"The school should dismiss the student. He has bitten the hand which feeds him. Just expell him and then he would know what future lies infront of him. Bloody ungrateful twat" ...

Is he getting free education there?? Isn't the boy/boy's family paying for the education?? then where is the question of 'biting the hand that feeds you' ???

  9. Don't be so closed minded people. I am another villa student who doesn't agree to what he said. He didn't hold a referendum to find out what we think! He had no right. I don't support any political party strictly.

As a student he knew fully what bounds there were for him. He signed a document when he enrolled which weaver his rights, as did we all.

plus, villa is run at a loss. so, he did bite a hand that was feeding him.

PS: I don't care about an adult voicing his own opinions, but don't speak for the whole just because you are a captain. Hell, go running naked on stage and i won't give a crap as long as you keep us out of it.

He has every right, just as you have a right to dispute what he says. What sort of country are you living in? Oh yes, a country were 3 politicians employ a 1/3rd of Maldivians.

  11. He is a high school student doesnt mean he is a kid. I think we are past all these age restrictions. Maybe its time we embrace the mentality and exceeded understanding of whats happening around us, that the young minds have grasped. Compared to even thirty years ago, the youth of this country say for example an 18/17 year old then and now, would be a lot different. Our generation are the leaders of the future. Not because of their potential but we have grown to love our nation. Love justice. We have earned the right to speak freely. Gasim wants to provide education. Just do that and stand back. Dont try to manipulate or restrict us. We dont feel like we owe you. We dont feel like we should be on your side just because you make a lot of public/ private services happen. We appreciate it though. Thats all you are going to get.
