Religious NGO Jamiyyathulsalaf is offering youth the opportunity of a two day ‘Hijra’ to distance themselves from sin and form closer relations with religion.
‘Hijra’, a religious camping retreat on the island of Thinadhoo in Vaavu Atoll from November 18-20 where, for the price of Rf300 (US$32), participants can ‘move away from sin’.
Salaf said priority will be given to those who are at ‘beginner’s level’ in their religious education and, or, are experiencing doubts about their belief.
Successful applicants will be instructed in religious teachings by scholar Skeikh Adam Shameem Ibrahim and will also be encouraged to form close friendships and foster a spirit of brotherhood.
‘’As the camp will be held for two days, having fun and playing different games will also be a part of it”. The fun and games will be organised according to religious teachings, Salaf said.
Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in some serious religious education through lessons and sermons.
“Moving away from sin”, is the slogan of the camp. Hijra refers to the migration of Prophet Mohamed from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE to escape persecution and found the first Islamic state.

Salaf should select participants from among drug addicts who quite openly engages in haraam activities. If their objective is to help reduce crime rate and Islamize the society they should not target those already Islamaized.

The only thing that could be worse than these 'camps' are the Nazi concentration camps during the world war 2.
Islamic education is fine, but the only people who would hold this 'camp' would be the extremists. By extremists I mean those who forsake vaccines, school for their children,..and those who make 4 year old girls wear moonu buruga, those who marry their under age daughters to a 50 year old man.
Here in the maldives unlike the afghan-extremists who are motivated to create terror, the wahhaabees main motivation and selling point is polygamy. Hence even women who are from these closed circles sincerely believe that their way to heaven is been a slave to their husbands.

The most important part will be a model of Sheikh Ilyas's heaven. I heard that some virgins will be brought from nearby islands but they will be dressed in full black Hijab. The idea is to give a feel of the actual heaven so that they will get the boys thinking about the holy jihad.
