Internal threats to Islam most dangerous, says Adhaalath

The chairman of the religious scholars council of the Adhaalath told a  press conference yesterday that threats to Islam within the Maldives were far more dangerous than any external problems, Miadhu reports.

Dr Abdul Majeed claimed religions other than Islam were being introduced to the country by people travelling abroad for education and becoming converted.

“They embrace other religions. They become senior officials of the government or get elected as MPs,” he said.

Dr Majeed called for Islamic faith to be strengthened, saying “that if the faith is strong, none of the external factors will lead us astray either.”

  1. also, wahhaabee extremism "is being introduced to the country by people travelling abroad (saudiarabia and pakistan) for education and becoming converted".....They embrace wahhaabee islam. They become senior officials (like majeed, shaheem, husseinrasheed, many others in islamic ministry and education system) of the government or get elected as MPs (muttalib?).

seriously, when they talk about protecting islam and keeping people in 'islam'...i cant help but imagine this 'islam' they talk about as some sort of pscyho criminal who secretly do bad stuff, and have a need to hide things from others and to protect and clear his name again and again.

as far as i know, on the day of judgment Allah will ask each individual about their deeds and then reward or punish them. i suppose Allah would not ask, "hey Dr.Majeed, since you have this Phd in islam..i gotta ask you..how did this guy and that guy live? were they muslims? im gonna punish YOU if they werent".

may allah save us from his followers thatv gone astray.

  2. Some Muslims follow Hadith than Quran. So which means that Hadith followers believe Quran is incomplete. They add things to Quran verses in brackets. Which they cannot do!!! They are Allah words and no one has the right to do so!!! Haabis are such taht. Our prophet have mentioned not to write his hadith cause it will be mixed with Quran people will do it. That is what we see. Isha Allah save us from this "Vaba".

  3. I think we should all be very careful about the fact that they are accusing MPs of having been seduced by other religions. I thought Addaltath's leadership would have more sense than that. They started as a moderate party with firm religious grounding. Now they're going out of control and they're going to help tear this country apart. They're so conservative they will not let any other form Islam flourish but the one that they are prescribing for people. God help our nation.

  4. dear righteous Majeed,

i am not fighting against Islam. i am fighting for my freedom and rights. is that too much to ask? this is my country too, i have right to express and live my own life style here. Don't you think so?

since you showed up u wanted implement sharia law and change my social life style the way you want. i am not a robot or something to be programmed. we are social animals. we have to be social, not a taciturn i say u live your life and i live mine. sometimes i don't believe what you guys say. Some of your fictional stories no good cause oblivious that you made up like church and disco change into mosque after incident. As well some facts are inaccurate. i suggest scholar to do their home work and research well. Don't give misinformation. All i want say is don't criticize my lifestyle cause i am not so called haabi.

So far i have seen Islam as political tool often interferes with state affairs. we have constitution to protect us, gives a freedom to live here. it speaks for all Maldivians. there is no threat Islam but your ideas threat our civil liberties. As president said Islam has unique position in our society. But what is its position in when it comes to politics, state affairs or our rights?

Maldivians are afraid to speak openly on their religious views and no one wanna to be labeled as "first infidel" in Maldives.

God dammit!! why cant i hit to a massage parlor after a hard day at work?

    i hope you understand
