Criminal Court restricts movements of 19 staff arrested in Kurumba strike

The Criminal Court has ordered 19 staff at Kurumba Resort, who were arrested on charges of vandalism and intimidation during the recent strike, not to not to leave Male’.

The resort told Minivan News that senior management were intimidated by staff during the strike, and a door in a staff room was damaged.

During the strike the resort moved guests to other islands owned by the Universal group, while others chose to leave the country.

  1. Hey. Easa where r u ? Do u feel that this is justic ? If somebody strike for their rights, whould them punished ? Universal guys have lot of money may be they think they can use their money to buy other inocent poeples rights. last 30 years they did that. Easa plx help these 19 arrest.

  2. What about the rights of the resort owners and operators? and other staff and guests?

    rights come with responsibilities and limitations, in order to balance against others' rights as well.

    sure, resort workers must be treated fairly and in accordance with law, if that is justified.

    but at the same time, you cannot vandalize / terrorize a workplace in the name of "strikes".

    resort workers - why not enforce your rights at employment tribunal, which is very pro-workers..

    intimidation and causing disruption to the large majority is not the way to get safeguard your rights.

    if not, one day there'll be no tourists, no dollars, no resort employers, and no resort jobs to begin with.

    don't be fooled by TEAM/Easa. all they were after were glory n nice positions, which they've got now..
