Wataniya to introduce 4G service to the Maldives

Wataniya has said it is preparing to launch a 4G network service to the Maldives for the first time.

”The introduction of single RAN aligns with the government’s strategies towards carbon neutrality with over 54 per-cent reduction in power consumption per site,” Wataniya said in a statement. ”Battery life has also increased from 4 hours to 16 hours, and in terms of size, there is more than 80 per-cent in reduction of footprint.”

”Wataniya will soon be testing the 4G network, and over the course of the year, will be introducing new products and services,” said the telco.

  1. Great. Now we have to change our handsets again. And buy dongles again.

For what? To get 150Mbps of internet? at 25000 Mrf per month?

For the love of god, atleast try to provide what you claimed for 3G. That is 7Mbps.

    Bullshit!!

  2. 4G? Really?

Wow, Maldives must be in par with the US and Europe afterall.

I take back my comments on Parliamentarians to get the salaries of the US Senators. Yo parliamentarians, you are the best, you deserve $10,000/- salaries with Mercedes Benz cars and Executive Yachts as birthright gifts.

    When can we experience this?

  3. Please provide proper 3G service and mobile service to all our islands first before making false promises on other things. Before we go for 10G service I would be thankful if you can improve your existing 3G service which is in a poor condition.

Wataniya always makes stunts and puts eyeliners to the Maldivians by heavily advertising on these. When Wataniya first entered Maldives they claimed they provided coverage to all islands and later claimed 3G service and now 10G service. We have seen enough of this. Maldives should not be a test-bed for Qtel's services prior to launching in other countries. For God's sake Maldivians are not 'guinea pigs' and you cannot treat us like this.

    Please
