Man sentenced for indecently exposing himself to a minor

The Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a man to three years in prison after the court found him guilty of the indecent exposure of his body to a minor in Villingili.

The court identified the offender as Mohamed Saeed, 39.

The Criminal court said the brother of the male victim received information of the incident and reported to police that Saeed was attempting to have sex with the boy inside a guest house named ‘Beach View’ in Villingili.

“When police went to the guest house after receiving the information from the victim’s brother, police attended the scene and saw Saeed standing naked near the bed,’’ said the Criminal Court. “The boy was lying on the bed when the police arrived.’’

The Criminal Court said the victim told the court that Saeed went into the toilet and came out naked.

Saeed told the court that he worked in a cargo ship and came to Male’ for his vacation.

The Court sentenced him according to the ‘Act on special actions against sexual abuse to minors’ section 22[a] and 22[b].

  2. "brother of the male victim received information of the incident and reported to police that Saeed was attempting to have sex with the boy"
why didnt the brother try to stop it?
what were the boy and the man actually doing in the guest house? why did no sentence come to the boy who was lying (naked? clothed?)on the bed with a naked man standing infront of him?

  3. well, the brother did something, didn't he. after all he informed the authorities, rather than beating the shit out of that fellow. n no sentence came to that fellow in bed was, cos he's a minor..

  4. @ questions questions, I think the brother did the smart thing, did not attempt to break it up himself and made the police catch the man in the act. Otherwise u know the justice system in this country would probably just let that man walk free due to lack of EVIDENCE. go figure.

  5. Considering some of the sentences passed out so far, ie;

    Running a dictatorship - Nothing
    Abuse - Nothing
Murder - House arrest, usually nothing.
Gang rape - banishment on another inhabited island
Possession of cannabis - Ten years in jail

All in all it's pretty amazing he got convicted at all. I guess things must be getting better.

Oh and why is possesion of cannabis so much worse than gang rape? is the society sick or media lazy?

  10. personally i think the justice system is all wrong, i was also indecently exposed to, its causing me a lot of trouble, im being called a liar for talking out, i only spoke out because i did not want him doing it to other minors, i felt it was an obligation but now im regretting speaking out im meant to be going to court but i cant face it is that wrong? or does that imply that im lying i want to tell the police that i dont want to drop the charges as i dont want him to get away with it, so its on record but i dont have to go court as it'd be too hard for me.
