Seventy-eight year-old man arrested for abusing 12 year old disabled girl

A 78 year-old man has been arrested for allegedly abusing a 12 year-old disabled girl last Friday on the island of Inguraidhoo in Raa Atoll.

Police Sub-Inspector Ahmed Shiyam confirmed that an elderly man was arrested in connection with a child abuse case in Inguraidhoo.

”We can’t provide further information regarding the case,” he said.

An islander familiar with the matter alleged that the girl’s mother sold her to the old man, “because the girl is a disabled girl and she cannot even attend to school,” he said.

”The islanders say that her mother gave her to the old man for some amount of money. Both of them were taken to Inguraidhoo police station, and police have now released her mother.”

He said the old man was not a man from the island but said he used to visit Inguraidhoo.

  1. This sort of crime does not outrage Islamic ministry nor Islamic foundation. Only apostates deserve to be beheaded, right? What a sick bunch...

  2. According to the corrupt judges here in Male', it seems legal to do what the old man did. that old man will be set free and the 12 year old will be arrested. Anni should kill the judges, then try to bring democracy to Maldives

  3. Dear 24601,
I also wonder why the ladies who gave signed panty to Fareed and Human rights commissioner Nice name Saleem is so silent on this issue? Perhaps Comissioner Saleem enjoys dances of this age girls which wakes him from sleep at his age now and the panty group became a group of fantanic becoz all the secularist were victamizing on these ladies ..and they grew up as abused and currently they enjoy with abusers for a fee!

  5. Shall we ask the banana doctor if a 12yr old girl should be considered a child?

Shall we ask the mullahs if we should punish the girl or the old man or both? I guess we all know the answer.

They both sinned. The old man should have married her before sexually abusing her.

Are we that stupid a society?

And...there was a previous case where a child was gang-raped and based on the ruling I thought the judge probably decided that it was about another orgy this little girl organized at her place.

Do we have some sort of a perverted secret society in power.

    Sickening.

  6. toppy. thats a very rude and baseless comment. you cant just go on accussing innocent people and defaming them. the issue here is ignorance of maldivians towards child abuse. all the maldivians. not just Mr. Saleem or the ladies who gave the signed panty.

  7. Well, since slavery is ALLOWED in Islam, the MoIA and Salaf, they will just need the receipt for the transaction to be valid I suppose.
Indeed, its preposterous to expect them to take time to speak out against these seemingly meaningless occurrence's (to my knowledge they've never talked about these kind of things in they daily/weekly sermons), when there are more important matters such as forbidding music and calling out to destroy all musical instruments.
And anyways even they were to speak out, it would be the same b/s, 'its probably the womans fault'.

What needs to be done we should do ourselves. Everyone needs to be made aware of pedophiles that are living among us. If they have ever been convicted or even suspected of such actions, the whole neighborhood should seek out to remove them or at least tell everyone new to the area of the person.

The news agencies should publish their names and where they live, so we can protect our children from these psychos.

  8. Yes that's right... something happens and we ALL just sit around and talk!!! or point fingers at people (usually the Islamic ministry or anyone else who has anything to do with religion, to be more specific: Islam). This happens because we have no Islam / religion in our lives. We never had. The so called Islamic ministry and the human rights commision and ALL our politicians and people with the power to do something just sit around and BLUFF their way through everything. If we had EVER (in the past or even now)implemented the true Islamic shariah we'd have fewer crimes and by that I don't mean like the extremists (Fareed and their lot) who are actually puppets who are given compensations to do the bidding of the party that forms our government right now. Oh yeah I'm sure the opposition has another lot of thugs/ whatever under their sleeves too.

The WHOLE SOCIETY here is a sick bunch!!! You talk about democracy and rights and all other forms of rights to secure 'peace' in our country but do you really care about the country at all??? or are you people (from any frickin political party) just ONLY INTERESTED IN FILLING YOUR POCKETS???

  9. My goodness we are talking about child abuse. Look at the child who has a disability and a girl child. So that makes her case more serious, vulnerable and damn inhumane for anyone to do such a act. Why don't all the political parties, Islamic societies and so on don't go on a strike or make an large outcry against such social injustice.

  10. Fatima said, 'Why don’t all the political parties, Islamic societies and so on don’t go on a strike or make an large outcry against such social injustice." Sadly, the institutions mentioned do not care, they are cowards because they are not fuelled by the power of love but by desire for vengeance, which fuels politics...they act in the interests of power not in the interests of care for their people... they do not have the courage, and courage can only come from true self sacrificial love, to fight for such an issue... Most really do not actually care and so it would be a waist of time trying to get votes fighting for such an issue. If they read this, they will perhaps fight for this issue, but not really because they care but because they would wish to prove me wrong, again, love to out do, to downgrade another not to uplift this poor soul...

  11. This story shows what a cheap social value we have now in Maldives. It is disgusting to even read this. Where is the Adhaalat party now? Why are they not calling for the death of this old idiot who has molested an under age girl. Why can't the police disclose the identity of this old bastard who did this thing? Is the rights of this disgusting man more important than the trauma he has caused to a poor young innocent child of 12 years. Shame on Maldives.

  12. Here, I'll add these to the evidence list. Bilal Philips needs to be told that if he promotes child abuse like this, he faces dire consequences.

  14. Hi all, I must say these kind of things are happening this society is only because the whole place is corrupted and non educated. they think only about money and the satisfaction they get from it. even most parents are part of these kind of sick matters. It's a SHAME. Grow up people and think wise, use your HEAD no meter how big or small you are, weather you're doing the right thing or NOT !!! God please have mercy on US.

  15. this is so disgusting. parents and the elders should be ashamed of them selves to do this. this only few things we know. how many untold stories would be beside the scene. where is the so called human rights commission?? where are the PM's??? why don't they talk about this?? isn't these issues??
dear people, its not only politics we should bother. just think of social issues, and please please solve them first to get a better nation ...
